GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - In Grand Island there was a book bag and school supply giveaway at Capital Mobile Homes thanks to a woman named Lindsey Marshall.

Lindsey is the new Grand Island Property Manager at Impact Community Homes and she came up with the program for the youth in the community she now serves.

“As a new property manager in the local community I thought it would be nice for me to do something positive with the community and as I’ve been out there I’ve been making connections with the young youth, the kids out there,” recalled Marshall.

She said she realized school starts soon plus she knows small business owners so she started reaching out, and they delivered. On Sunday they were able to provide 100 kids with backpacks and school supplies.

Local bikers, called Riders of G.I., rode into the entrance at Capital Mobile Homes and helped pass out the backpacks and supplies.

“It’s heartwarming how much the community has reached out and helped me,” said Marshall

Marshall said she would not have been able to do this without the help of the businesses that donated.

HyVee, Sluggers, The Platform, Daily Dose Coffee, Bready B’s Lawn Service, Tintacular, Wendy’s Personal Touch Cleaning, Tacos Los Hermanos, Impact Communities and Chop Shop Customs are the businesses.

This is her first time putting together something like this but she mentioned she would like to continue this in the future.
