Pleasant conditions to end your Saturday; Heat returns to start August.
The cooler weather is behind us, the heat is back and it’s still 63 days until October...
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Saturday gave us some fabulous weather across central Nebraska with high temperatures in the low-mid 80s, lots of sunshine, and a light breeze. These pleasant conditions, minus the sunshine of course, and falling temperatures, will continue this evening and overnight.
Expect to wake up tomorrow morning with lows in the low 60s, a few locations in the upper 50s will even be possible! Don’t let those cool morning temps fool you though, we will be headed for the low 90s by mid-late afternoon. We will hang onto the light breeze and sunshine, however, there will be a chance for an isolated shower/thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon and evening. This chance will be highest in the western and northern counties, and down towards Kearney. An important note: most of us will stay DRY tomorrow, only a few towns should see a shower or storm, but exactly who see them will be uncertain until storms form. Severe weather is possible, but chances will be low. The main threats include heavy downpours and lightning. The heaviest storms may have isolated wind gusts of 60 mph and a few large hailstones.
As we start August, temperatures continue the high climb into the mid-upper 90s (a few triple-digit marks are possible!) with lots of sunshine and a few low shower & thunderstorm chances during the evening and overnight hours.
Lucky for us, we do have a cooldown on the way. I checked into the tracking number on this next cooldown and the expected shipment is within 50-60 days - or, October. Happy ‘were-almost-there’ season, Nebraska!
