AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) -

UPDATE: The interstate is now open in both directions however, the left lanes in both directions are closed because of guard rail repairs.

UPDATE: As of 2:30 PM Monday, the Nebraska 511 website indicated that the east-bound lane was partially re-opened. The website indicated that the right hand lane between Giltner and Aurora was still closed.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation said the east-bound lanes of Interstate 80 between the Phillips and Aurora exits were closed Monday afternoon due to an accident.

Emergency workers were diverting traffic around that stretch. Emergency radio traffic indicated that accident happened around 1 p.m. Monday near the Aurora exit. Multiple vehicles and investigators on the scene called for three ambulances. The radio traffic indicated that there were injuries but did not make clear how serious they were.

A shot from a Nebraska DOT camera at the Aurora exit indicated traffic backed up west of the accident scene.
