HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The big story today and tomorrow will be the cooler than average temperatures as a mid summer cold front pushes through the region. Most of us saw cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 70s to low 80s behind the front. The only exception was to the east and southeast where the front hasn’t passed through yet and it remained sultry with highs in the low to upper 90s. But don’t fret, as the front will be exiting the state by tomorrow morning. And as it slowly pushes south overnight, there is a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms as it does. Mainly along and south of the I-80 corridor. Mostly cloudy skies overnight will become partly cloudy by morning as the front continues to push out of the region. Lows for Monday morning will range from the low 50s north to mid 60s south. Behind the front northerly winds will usher in drier and cooler air. High pressure will build in from the north allowing for mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. Cooler daytime highs in the low to mid 80s across the eastern half of the state. The warmer spots will be out west with upper 80s and low 90s for afternoon highs on Monday. Looking ahead at the next 7 days, dry and heating up through the week as a upper level ridge of high pressure builds in across the central U.S. Sunny and warm on Tuesday with highs in the upper 80s east, low to mid 90s in western spots. Sunny skies will prevail through Friday with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s Wednesday and Thursday. Hot with increasing clouds into the weekend. Highs Friday through Sunday in the mid to upper 90s.
