Kenesaw celebrates 150 year anniversary
KENESAW, Neb. (KSNB) - Every first weekend in August, the village of Kenesaw comes together to celebrate “Wasenek Days.”
This year, that celebration is even more special, as it marks the 150th year since Kenesaw’s founding.
With tons of events planned for the weekend, 19-year-old Liam Parker has been busy organizing the celebration, and rallying the community to come together and celebrate.
“Everyone’s so excited about it,” said Parker. “It’s not just one person, it’s the whole community coming together to support and celebrate 150 years. We’re growing and thriving and have so many businesses. It’s beautiful, it truly is.”
The events kick off tonight, with a fireworks show happening at 9:30 at the Ballpark. Then tomorrow morning there’s a Fun Run at 8 am, followed by the “Continuing Tradition” parade in downtown Kenesaw at 10 am.
