Searing heat returns
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - August heat will intensity during the next couple of days, but the good news is a refreshing cool down immediately follows. The heat and humidity will be noticeable Friday and Saturday with 100′s more widespread on Friday in western and northern areas, with the Tri-Cities and eastern areas in the mid to upper 90s.
Heat Advisories will go into effect on Friday for ‘feels like’ temperatures up to 105 degrees, presenting a threat for heat illness.
Saturday will see widespread temperatures in the upper 90s and 100s in southwest through northeastern areas ahead of cold front that will drop temperatures in Northwest Nebraska in the 80s.
The cold front will bring some relief from the heat by Sunday as it sags into Central Nebraska by Saturday evening. Thunderstorm chances will favor areas west of the Tri-Cities as warm air aloft inhibits storm develop initially in central areas, but scattered thunderstorms will be possible during the evening. The front will stall out on Sunday keeping the possibility of periodic thunderstorms through Sunday evening. Temperatures will stay cool through Tuesday before an upper level ridge build back in elevating temperatures into the 90s by midweek.
