Grand Island teens arrested following string of incidents over the weekend
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A group of juveniles kept Grand Island Police busy following two incidents over the weekend.
On Friday afternoon, police served a search warrant in the 500 block of West Louise Street in regard to a stolen side-by-side (UTV).
While serving the warrant, police discovered two 16-year-old boys inside the residence. One of the teens had two firearms, as well as marijuana.
Both teens were taken into custody. One of the boys was reported as a runaway and had other pending detention charges; He was taken to a juvenile detention center. The other boy was given an ankle monitor and released back home.
While on scene, police believed someone in a maroon Lincoln LS attempted to fire shots at the officers.
On Saturday, police spotted the maroon Lincoln LS near 11th and Broadwell. Police were eventually able to track down the vehicle near Kennedy Ave. and 10th St.
Police arrested two 17-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy.
The 16-year-old boy had been arrested the previous day at the house on West Louise Street.
In the vehicle, police found over 5 ounces of marijuana, mushrooms, THC pens, and other drug paraphernalia and items consistent with selling.
The teens were taken into custody on numerous charges.
Police also said one of the 17-year-olds was charged as an adult from a previous incident from back in July. The teen had a warrant from a hotel incident where officers found items related to recent vehicle thefts.
GIPD believes the suspects are also linked to some of the vehicle thefts from around town this summer.
