Clements introduced as Hastings College AD, maintains commitment to GPAC
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings College officially introduced Chris Clements as its new Athletic Director Wednesday, as the former Broncos women’s soccer coach returns to the school in a new capacity.
“The long-term goal is to help lead and help instill a desire and a culture of winning,” Clements said. “And I always said this as a coach, and I’ll say this as an Athletic Director, we will win, we’ll just figure out how long it will take us to get to that point.”
Clements left Hastings College after a five-year run from 2014-18 and has been serving as the head soccer coach at Minot State before making a return to the Broncos.
“One of the big things for me is the vision of what Hastings College is,” Clements said. “And I think that’s what we are going to strive to get to do. Over the last two days, I’ve met with a lot of coaches and sharing the love and passion that Hastings College is. And that’s what we want every student to experience. Having pride in this institution. It’s making it a great day to be a Bronco every single day.”
Clements also confirmed that there are no current plans for realignment or to break Hastings College away from the Great Plains Athletic Conference. All 22 athletic programs will compete in the GPAC for the foreseeable future.
“I think the GPAC is where we need to be for right now,” Clements said. “I think, obviously, for long term, we evaluate any option that arises, but we have been a stable part of the GPAC and we plan to be a stable part of the GPAC going forward.”
