GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Are you ready for the new school year? Well the Central District Health Department wants to make sure health is the top of your list.

CDHD is encouraging parents to make sure their kids are up to date on all vaccines, and they say washing and sanitizing your hands can go a long way to ward off illnesses.

However, a Central District Health Department nurse told Local4 News parents also need to make sure kids know proper hygiene when it comes to coughing and sneezing.

“Kids like to be in each other’s bubbles maybe just remind them about washing their hands, coughing in their cough pockets, all those normal things,” CDHD Nurse Nicole Placke said. “We are seeing a lot of COVID cases right now, so just those extra precautions will help.”

Placke also said anyone needs advice on what vaccines your child needs, they can call their local school district, or their local health department.
