Grand Island Tourism helping people send their love from the State Fair
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Visitors of the Nebraska State Fair can send their love with a postcard free of charge, and it’s all thanks to Grand Island Tourism.
They set up a booth for people to write a card and send it anywhere in the country, and even overseas. Once the card is filled out, drop it in a little mailbox, then the tourism office puts a stamp on it and sends it to the address you put down.
Grand Island Tourism Executive Director Brad Mellema said the postcards are a nice nod to yesteryear.
“There is something about a postcard,” Mellema said. “When you get that post card, you put it where? On your refrigerator. You keep it around and it’s something you touch and feel, and so we wanted to bring back that excitement that all of us of a certain age used to feel all the time. So it certainly is a fun thing. It’s educational, sometimes kids may not know how to fill one out but they learn how to do that here.”
Grand Island Tourism is collecting the cards through the end of the fair on Labor Day.
