Scattered showers early...then a warm, dry weekend...
Update to include 10 pm weathercast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Another opportunity for rain presents itself leading into the last full weekend of summer. Active thunderstorms will track across mainly Northern Nebraska this evening but an isolated cell could find it’s way near the Tri-Cities during the late evening, mainly after the area football games conclude. The better chance will come closer to the predawn hours of Saturday when scattered thunderstorms are forecast to redevelop in Northern Kansas and Southwest Nebraska and spread through the Tri-Cities, some of which will linger into the morning hours of Saturday. The rain will push east by mid morning with clearing skies by the afternoon enabling temperatures to climb into the mid 80s for afternoon highs.
Additional thunderstorms may develop in the far southeast part of the state, including the Lincoln area Saturday evening moving east. The rest of the Local 4 area should be dry the remainder of the weekend with highs once again in the mid to upper 80s Sunday under sunny skies. Early next week the hot weather returns sending temperatures into the 90s Monday and Tuesday. A strong cold front will invade the region Wednesday providing more chances for rain Wednesday through Friday with high temperatures dipping into the upper 60s by the end of the week.
