KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Kearney played host to the second of three Walk End Alzheimer’s. Walkers came out bright and early on Saturday to for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Participants took part in a garden ceremony before pounding the pavement. People picked up flower pinwheels as a way of honoring all the individuals affected by the disease.

For some, like Susan Bigg, the meaning behind the event hits close to home. Bigg’s husband lived with Alzheimer’s disease. She told Local4 News Saturday, she was honored to see all the people who’d come out in support of those who have the disease.

“It’s very encouraging to see everyone that comes out for this walk,” Bigg said. “Everyone has a connection with someone, somewhere with Alzheimer’s if they don’t now they probably will one in every six people ends up having Alzheimer’s.”

There were several ways to give back during the event, including taking pictures with some exotic birds for a donation.
