Heartland United Way celebrates 75 years of service
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Heartland United Way celebrated its 75th anniversary on Tuesday, with a sweet treat for the community.
They opened up their “Scoops Ice Cream Parlor” at Fonner Park to hand out free ice cream for all who wanted to enjoy.
This was a way for the United Way to say thank you for all of the support they’ve received over the years.
When we were thinking of ways that we could celebrate 75 years we were like, let’s just do something that gives back to the community,” said United Way President Karen Rathke. “This is something that we’re set up and prepared to do, so we’ll be scooping a lot of ice cream and saying a lot of thank you’s.”
The ice cream is available from 4-6 pm if you’re interested.
