The last full day of summer will likely be wet and much cooler. A strong cold front will send temperatures tumbling from the 90s to the lower 60s and even into the upper 50s for afternoon highs on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop and become widespread during the day on Wednesday with most of the rain along and to the south of Interstate 80.

Thursday the better chance will be mostly in Southwest Nebraska into Northern Kansas but there will be a push of rain coverage late overnight Thursday into early Friday through Central Nebraska. Autumn doesn’t officially arrive until 8:04 pm Thursday evening, but Thursday’s highs will already reflect the season with highs struggling to reach 60. The first ‘full” day of the new season will begin with mainly morning showers, Friday otherwise it will be partly cloudy with temperatures moderating into the the lower 70s. The only bump in temps looks to be on Saturday and even then highs will only be around 80. The rest of the weekend into early next week will be in the lower 70s.
