Dramatically cooler with showers likely for many over the next few days
September 21, 2022 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - We have been seeing increasing clouds early this morning. Eventually, we will see rain chances increase as showers and isolated thunderstorms spread east and southeast into more and more of the area. It’ll be a much cooler day than the record highs of yesterday. For many, highs occurred earlier this morning. For our daytime highest temperatures, we’ll see highs in the 60s and lower 70s. As the rain moves in, temperatures may drop off later today. We’ll also deal with some breezy north northeast winds of 12 to 22 mph with some gusts at times over 30 mph. Showers will continue overnight, although those in Nebraska will see their chances come down quite a bit. The breezy winds will die down. Look for lows by tomorrow morning in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s.
The showers will continue into our Thursday with the better chance in southern and western portions of the area. We’ll then see a last push of showers push east across the area tomorrow night into early Friday morning. Thursday will be a cool day with highs in the 50s and lower 60s. The coolest temperatures will likely be in the west with the better chance of rain. Lows Friday morning will again be in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s. Showers will linger Friday morning, but push east and out of the area. Meanwhile, we’ll see clearing skies from west to east. This will help bring a nice afternoon. Winds will be breezy out of the south southwest at 10 to 20 mph. We’ll see highs from the mid/upper 60s east to the upper 70s/lower 80s west.
Mainly dry weather is expected this weekend through early next week. Saturday will be our warmest day of the forecast as highs reach the upper 70s and low to mid 80s. A cold front will then bring some very nice temperatures early next week. On Sunday, highs return to the upper 60s and low to mid 70s. Sunday will be a breezy day. We’ll see widespread 70s on Monday and Tuesday with the warmest temperatures in the west. There will be a gradually warm-up to a little above average later next week as we wrap up the month of September.
