HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It’s been a cloudy, chilly and at times rainy day as the official start to Fall begins this evening at 8:04pm. High temperatures today made it into the the mid 50s to low 60s. A few warmer spots saw mid to upper 60s up near Yankton and Sioux City. Any continuing showers this evening will mainly be on the lighter side. But after midnight, there will be one final push eastward of some showers and isolated thunderstorms. These could bring some isolated pockets of slightly heavier rainfall. By sunrise tomorrow, these should mainly be east of highway 281. Low temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

As the morning goes on tomorrow, the showers and isolated thunderstorms will push east and out of the eastern portions of the Local4 viewing area. Meanwhile, skies out west will begin to clear up. The rest of the area will see clearing skies during the afternoon. Southwesterly winds will be a bit breezy, but some slightly stronger northwest winds will move in from the northwest behind a weak cold front. Temperatures will be warmer tomorrow thanks to the returning sunshine. High temperatures will range from the upper 60s and lower 70s east to the lower 80s west. It’ll be slightly cooler to the northwest because of the weak cold front. With clear skies and lighter winds, temperatures will drop back to the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s early on Saturday morning.

Sunshine is then expected for the rest of the forecast through the middle of next week. Saturday will be the warmest day of the forecast period. Highs will reach the upper 70s and low to mid 80s. Sunday will then be a little cooler with highs in the low to mid 70s. Monday will be a little warmer with highs in the mid to upper 70s and lower 80s. It’ll be just a little cooler again on Tuesday with highs from the upper 60s to the upper 70s with the warmest temperatures east. We’ll mostly see 70s again on Wednesday. Temperatures will then gradually warm back up a little bit for the end of the week.
