GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (NCN) - There’s new leadership at the top of the Central Community College Foundation.

Traci Skalberg takes over as executive director after spending nearly 20 years leading the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation. She says the new role fits her professional goal of shaping communities through education.

“They invest not just one community… they invest in several communities and 25 counties,” Skalberg said. “To me, it just felt like the right opportunity to be able to spread my wings and be able to invest in more communities.”

Skalberg replaces Dean Moors, who is retiring after heading up the foundation for 14 years. According the the CCC board of governors, the foundation increased its annual scholarship amount from $15,000 to $750,000 under Moors’ leadership.

“He has really grown the foundation,” Skalberg said. “We’re on solid footing and we have been really integral into the college’s work in the last years of (Moors’) work.”

The foundation employees surprised Moors with the creation of the Dean Moors Fund on Tuesday. 55 people have already combined to donate $6,800 to the fund. Moors plans to continue working for the foundation in a part-time role.
