GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - There’s a leadership change at the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation.

The GIAEDC Board of Trustees announced Mary Berlie as the organization’s new president. She replaces Dave Taylor, who is resigning to take on a new position at another local business.

Berlie has been with GIAEDC for nine years, most recently serving as its executive vice president.

“The board is very excited about Mary taking the helm” said Will Armstrong, board chair. “Mary knows the EDC like the back of her hand, is smart, well organized, and has an extraordinary enthusiasm for Grand Island.”

Taylor had led the EDC since 2015.

“Dave’s done a super job over his tenure, and we wish him well in his newest venture” Armstrong continued.

Berlie, a Grand Island native, assumes her new role in early December. Currently, Berlie serves on the boards of the South Central Economic Development District, the Heartland United Way, the City of Grand Island Entitlement Stakeholders, CHI St. Francis Foundation, and Railside’s Economic Vitality.

The Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation is the economic development arm of the City of Grand Island. It is tasked primarily with attracting and retaining businesses and employees to the Grand Island area.
