HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After temperatures shot into the 60s today we’ll put together one more mild day before Thanksgiving day. Wednesday may not be as warm as Tuesday, but afternoon highs should reach into the low to mid 50s with some clouds rolling in as an upper level trough of low pressure approaches.

The trough will slide to the west of the state into the Southern Plains, so precipitation will impact the High Plains and areas south of Nebraska. A cold front will push through Nebraska on Thanksgiving Day, producing winds gusting to 30 mph along with cooler temperatures. Highs will be stuck in the low to mid 40s.

Most areas will stay dry but Southeast Nebraska could see some morning sprinkles or spotty showers. By the evening dinner hour, high pressure will begin to clear the skies and warmer air will reset our temperatures for the rest of the holiday weekend.

Shoppers on Friday will see sunny skies and a return to temperatures in the lower 50s that will carry through the rest of the holiday weekend. Next week, a storm system is expected to enter the Plains on Tuesday which could bring with it some wintry precipitation. Every model recognized the storm moving in but the storm track remains an issue, so who gets what is yet to be determined.
