GLENVIL, Neb. (KSNB) - Some people got to cross off items on their Christmas list with unique holiday gifts. Glenvil held its second annual Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair.

Coordinators Shawna Taylor and Karla Harms said it started based on their passion for crafting, and to give local small businesses exposure to showcase their products.

“We thought it would bring business to Glenvil, the small community,” Taylor said. “We have the vendor trucks out front as well for breakfast, lunch. Then small businesses that have crafts and can come and display their talents.”

It gives people an opportunity to shop for the holidays without leaving Glenvil.

“It’s close to home,” said Sonya Dittmer, Owner of Sonya Sensations. “It’s wonderful gifts for everybody or just for themselves, just to use around the house, and everything. It’s just good to get it out there, and I make a lot of things for family and friends. So why not have it available for other people.”

Both Dittmer and Taylor says events like this in a small town gives people a chance to see folks they haven’t seen in a while. It’s also about recognizing what a small town can do.

“It just recognizes Glenvil,” Taylor said. “Small town sometimes they think are overlooked, and just to give people locally a chance to come out. You see people that you haven’t seen for a long time with small things like this in the area too.”

Taylor says in the future, the date of when the Craft and Vendor Fair may potentially change, due to the high volume of events happening in other small towns in the area.
