GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - For the last 37 years, Pamela Ehlers has been serving up delicious breakfasts, fried chicken, and more at ‘Pam’s Pub & Grub’ in Grand Island.

Now she’s hanging up the apron and retiring.

“I’ve been thinking about it for a year and I was gonna do it last year, then one of my daughters had a stroke and another got in a car accident and I decided I need to spend more time with my family,” explained Ehlers.

Longtime customers are saddened to hear the news, but agree if anyone deserves a nice retirement, it’s Pam.

“She’s gonna be missed not just by me, but by so many people,” said customer James De Leon. “I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna get the effect of that until later on. I don’t know man, I’m just happy to know her and I’m truly happy for her.”

The last day to eat at Pam’s will be December 18th, and as of right now the establishment is up for sale, though there has been no offers yet.

As she rides off into the sunset, Pamela is grateful for the love and support she’s received over the years.

“Thank you to all the people who supported me,” said Ehlers. “This has been my only job my entire life since I was 19, so I am so thankful. I’ve taken care of my family, my grandkids, it’s been wonderful.”
