HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - As Christmas shopping continues this holiday season, some families are facing the challenge of finding gifts for loved ones suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association released a list of ideas to help find the perfect gift, which you can see here.

They also say you can use the hotline, 1-800-272-3900, as a resources as well.

“One thing that we think is a gift for everyone is using our helpline. I want to make sure people know about it. That’s 24/7 even during the holidays,” said Julie Chytil, the Director of Programs for the Alzheimer’s Association.

It’s also important to remember the caregivers this holiday season, and treat them as well.

”They could use help with cleaning, maybe a food service delivery, maybe making meals once a week in a coupon system type thing,” said Chytil. “They need a break.”
