HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings City Council voted to let a small business expand in the downtown, 8-0. Small town famous now plans to expand into the Wolbach Building.

This comes as a big move for the store as now they plan to become a three-story shopping experience. There will be retail on all three floors and even a possible children’s play area on the second floor.

Small Town Famous owner, Jacque Cranson said she has high hopes for the future of the redevelopment.

“So, a lot of ideas, we haven’t finalized everything but we’ll definitely be excited to use the whole building and grow something that people have a shopping experience like no other probably from Kansas City to Denver,” Cranson said. “The grand plan is for it to be awesome.”

It’s not just Cranson that is looking forward to the growth, the current staff of Small Town Famous is excited for what the future holds.

“You shopping in Central Nebraska has been kind of a challenge and you feel like you have to leave your town to shop and find things and to have something like this available for people to come here to shop versus people leaving here to go shop is pretty cool,” Small Town Famous employee Ashley Ciemnoczolowski said. “It’s exciting, it’s really exciting we were super excited to move two doors down a couple of years ago, to already be at this level is amazing, it’s just awesome.”

Cranson also told Local4 News that the redevelopment of this building carries with it a big time commitment along with running the Hastings location that is already there of Small Town Famous, which was a big consideration in closing the Grand Island location of the store.
