While quiet today, a fairly active forecast keeps snow chances littered throughout the next seven days
January 20, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Fairly quiet weather will continue for Friday. There are some existing low clouds in Eastern Nebraska that will continue to clear out through the afternoon. Much of the area is starting the day with sunshine. As the day goes on, mid and upper level clouds will increase from the west. After a very cold start to the day, it’ll remain chilly with highs in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s. The warmest areas will likely be in the south and southeast with little to no snow on the ground. Winds will remain under 10 mph, mostly out of a northwesterly direction. Skies will become cloudy overnight and after midnight, some light snow will start to move into southern parts of the area. Lows won’t be as cold as this morning as they drop into the mid to upper 10s and lower 20s. Snow will continue to move across southern and southeastern parts of the Local4 viewing area. The majority of it will be near and south of Highway 6, but there could be a little north of there. Many of those areas could see 1 to 3 inches of snow with the highest amounts anticipated in Northern Kansas. The last of the snow will clear out of southeastern areas during the evening. Highs on Saturday will be back in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s. Lows Saturday night as skies start to clear up will drop into the 10s.
Sunday will be fairly quite between chances of snow. It’ll be a touch chillier on Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s. Another chance of snow comes Monday and Monday night. As of right now, this should be another lighter event with the best chance in southern and southwestern parts of the area. Beyond that, the next chance of snow will come late Wednesday night into Thursday, although it is too early for any more details to the forecast than that. High temperatures will continue to mostly be between the mid 20s and mid 30s. Lows will mostly be in the 10s.
