Free tax clinic provided by United Way
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Tax season is upon us and as people begin to think about how they will file their taxes this year they should keep in mind of a new clinic.
United Way of South Central Nebraska is providing a free clinic to help individuals and families understand and prepare their tax returns.
“This is a great way for families to get the money they deserve and sometimes people just have questions and maybe they don’t understand their taxes, or maybe they got a letter from the IRS,” said Brady Rhodes the Collaborative Coordinator for United Way of South Central Nebraska. “There’s a great chance to meet a friendly face, they’re gonna get some knowledgeable responses their gonna get answers to those questions its just a great way to make sure that hey I’m getting everything that I deserve and that can really help my families bottom line.”
This program has partnered with the Hastings Public Library and Central Community College to provide a space and resources to hold the tax clinic. Beginning in February, the appointments will be held Wednesday evenings at CCC and Saturday mornings at the Hastings Public Library.
“The library is all about providing resources,” said Joseph Chapman the Circulation Coordinator for the library. “I mean a lot of people think of it as books and other items here, but there are all sorts of ways and providing these appointments for tax filings is another way we can help. I mean we can print out forms and everything, but these appointments will help a lot of people in the community get this process done which can be stressful this time of year.”
