Blustery and cooler today with a slight chance of flurries tonight
January 25, 2023 - Morning forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It will be a blustery day with northwest winds around 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph. It will also be a bit chillier under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s. The lower 30s will be out west where there will be a slight chance of flurries or light snow. Some of that light snow will push east later Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Thursday itself will be a bit milder with less wind and a continued chance of flurries or very light snow. Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s. Southwest winds will pick up overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. They’ll be up around 15 to 25 mph with some gusts approaching 40 mph. This should bring a rise in temperatures after the early evening hours. By Friday morning, temperatures may be up near the freezing point. Friday will be a dry and milder day with breezy winds continuing out of the west northwest. Look for highs in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s with the warmest temperatures in the southeast.
Colder air will then slide south into the area later Friday night into Saturday as an arctic front works southward. Snow will begin to move into Northern Nebraska Friday night into Saturday morning. This show could potentially be a bit heavier over the northern part of the state. As the front slides southward, the chance of snow will also shift southward. But the snow may become lighter or even more hit-or-miss. So snow amounts should be lighter in the house as it lingers through early Sunday. Saturday’s highs will be in the 10s north and 20s south. Much colder air will then push southward for the second half of the weekend. Highs on Sunday will only be in the 0s and 10s. More of the same will continue into next week. At night, lows may drop below zero. Meanwhile, wind chill values may drop into the -10s and -20s. There is another chance of snow early next week on Monday, but there’s too much uncertainty for more details than that right now.
