GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Sometimes you’ve got to dance. That’s exactly what schools from around the state did on Friday at the Heartland Events Center, with most of the day devoted to the finals for dance.

Teams like Doniphan-Trumbull and Hastings St. Cecilia both took the floor to show off their moves.

The event is run by the Nebraska Coaches Association. Its director, Darin Boysen, said this event is a product of teamwork.

“We’re really thankful for the volunteers, across this area particularly Grand Island that step up and help us with this event,” Boysen said. “Without their help we can’t do it.”

Boysen said they’re happy to have a place like Grand Island to host the tournament.

“We’re really fortunate to have a place like Grand Island, this event has been in Grand Island for every year for 16 years,” Boysen said. “So, we call this home, it’s great and centrally located. Obviously, we bring in judges and staff from all over the country to run this event.”

The championships concludes on Saturday with the cheer and tumbling portions. Results from all three days can be found here.
