HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - While not as windy as yesterday, strong northwest winds will be back again today. Expect winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Some of the strongest gusts may come around a few pop-up snow showers that will move through the area later today behind a cold front. Snow accumulation is unlikely, but these burst of snow that may only last a few minutes may bring down the visibility to a mile or so. Otherwise, look for an increase in clouds as the cold front dives south. Highs today will range from the upper 20s north to the low/mid 40s south, but temperatures in the northern part of the area will likely fall a bit through the afternoon. Winds will remain fairly brisk overnight out of the north northwest at 10 to 20 mph as temperatures fall off. Lows by tomorrow morning will range from the upper 0s north to the upper 10s southwest. But with the winds remaining breezy, many could see winds chill fall to near or below zero. We’ll see some partial clearing through the night. Saturday will be a cold blustery day with sunshine in the west and a bit more in the way of clouds to the east. Highs will range from the lower 20s northeast to the mid 30s southwest. Winds will again be blustery at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph out of the north northwest. High pressure will build in from the north Saturday night, which will bring lighter winds and clear skies. Expect another cold night with lows in the low to mid 10s. As southwesterly winds return on Sunday (10 to 20 mph), plenty of sunshine will help temperatures start to warm back up. Look for highs into the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s.

Milder temperatures will return next week despite a few more clouds around. In fact, there are at least slight chances for rain showers Tuesday through Friday. The good news is that this looks like it’ll be mainly rain with temperatures remain well above freezing. Highs will mostly be in the 50s, although on Wednesday we could see a lot more 60s. Each day looks to be on the breezy side.
