Howard County set to break ground on a new wellness center
St. Paul, Neb. (KSNB) - The Howard County Medical Center is set to break ground on their new wellness center on March 29.
The facility will have equipment aimed at physical, occupational and speech therapies, that includes an indoor walking and jogging track and a pool for aquatic exercises.
Howard County Medical Center’s CEO, Arlan Jonson, said that the pool could also help teach kids life-saving skills.
“Not saying it’s going to be open to have public swimming pool type of thing, but it will give kids the opportunity to get swimming lessons in the winter,” Johnson said. “There’ll be the water therapy that therapy has not had access to before.”
The project has been funded in large part by the medical center’s foundation, and Johnson said it’s a product of people in Howard County.
“In this community is the one thing about is they’ve always been highly supportive of the facility, first of all because it’s such a large economic driver, we are the largest employer in Howard County,” Johnson said. “We bring not just medium-range jobs, we bring high-paying jobs to the community. We bring people to come and live here and send their kids to school, and everybody really gets around that type of thing cause they know what we’re trying to accomplish.”
The groundbreaking ceremony is set for Thursday, March 29, at 2 p.m.
