HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The survivors of a deadly two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Hastings remain in the hospital days after the crash.
Mary Lanning Healthcare said Monday that two of the victims, identified as Douglas Kelly and Gilberto Zuniga-Cirila, remain at the Hastings hospital with both listed in stable condition.
A third victim, Guadalupe Zuniga-Cirila, remains at Bryan West campus in Lincoln. Her condition has improved from critical to now stable as of Monday afternoon.
The crash happened Thursday around 6:30 p.m. at the 600 block of North Burlington Avenue that left two people dead.
The two people who were killed were identified as 45-year-old Graciano Nava Zuniga and 61-year-old Natividad Zuniga, both of Grand Island.
Hastings Police Department is the lead of this investigation with the Nebraska State Patrol assisting with accident reconstruction.
Hastings Public Information Manager Tony Herrman said Hastings Police will have to process all the evidence, reports and investigations. Once all the facts are in hand, including reconstruction, autopsy and toxicology reports, HPD will work to determine the cause.
Herrman said it could take more than a month to receive all the necessary information to make a decision on the case.
