Quick shot of winter, then up and down temps
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Light to moderate snow will continue Monday evening for the southern part of the Local 4 area with accumulations mainly on grassy areas, bridges and overpasses. The better accumulations are expected over southwest areas where a Winter Weather Advisory continue until 1 AM.
Areas in the Advisory could see 1-2 inches with Trace to 1″ amounts through the Hastings and Kearney areas. By 7 pm Hastings had reported 7 tenths so an inch is certainly doable. Most of the snow will occur south of a North Platte to Hastings to Geneva line before through mid evening with snow ending over most areas by midnight.
Late tonight, clouds should begin to break up allowing for some clearing before sunrise which will enable temperatures to plummet into the teens to near 20 over most areas.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny with winds switching from west to southwest. That should enable temperatures to warm into the 50s over southeast areas with upper 40s to low 50s in those areas that accrued snow over the weekend.
\Another shot of cold air will stifle Wednesday’s highs from climbing much beyond the lower 40s but warm front will push Thursday highs into the 70s with added instability to trigger some rain showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder Thursday night. Rain and windy conditions area expected Thursday Friday as area thermometers fluctuate up and down into next week.
