GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Senior High students got a head start on their future careers on Thursday, thanks to a hiring fair held at the school.

More than 70 employers set up booths for students to browse and connect, with some even conducting interviews on the spot.

”They’re really learning without the textbook piece of it,” Kristen Klein, who works for GIX Logistics said. “It’s really just the hands-on, and that’s what the real world is. The more that we can do that for high school students and in the classroom, the better for our communities.”

Students were grateful for the opportunities provided to them.

”I think it’s such a great opportunity for many students who are able to reach out and see what kind of jobs are available, and gives them so many perspective views,” Dulce Montanez, a senior at GISH said. “They see what kind of jobs they are and what kind of opportunities they have.”

This was the third year GISH has hosted a hiring fair.
