HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a very windy night, today shaped up to a great day as winds backed off under sunny skies and highs in the 50s and 60s across the area. It will be a pleasant evening as we get a break from the winds with temperatures in the 50s. However, winds won’t stay light for long. Winds will become breezy again after midnight with south winds 15 to 25 mph and gusts to around 35 mph. Lows tonight ranging from the upper 30s northwest to mid 40s southeast. If you liked today’s weather, you may just like tomorrow’s weather even more. There will be a few more clouds tomorrow as a cold front pushes through the region. This will provide a gradient in temperatures tomorrow. Highs will be cooler to the north in the mid 50s, much warmer to the southeast in the mid 70s. Winds will become north northwest in the afternoon between 5 and 15 mph.

Cooler weather will come Monday and perhaps some light rain in a few spots as the next strong storm system begins to move in from the southwest. Temperatures will still be mild on the front side of the approach system with a strong southerly winds. But on the back side of the system, colder air will be moving in with strong northerly winds. Recent forecast models are a little farther southeast with this low pressure system, so I did decide to include a chance of rain, then snow for the Tri-Cities Tuesday and Tuesday evening. The chances will be greater north and west of the Tri-Cities. Because of the strong winds, blowing snow could end up being a big issue for some of those areas. Most of the moisture will then lift off to the northeast on Wednesday, but will be left with blustery and colder conditions. After that, temperatures will slowly start to improve and may be back to more seasonable by Easter Weekend.
