GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Fire crews were busy overnight after an overnight house fire sparked near the intersection of Gunbarrel and Bismark Road in east Grand Island.
According to the Grand Island Rural Fire Department, the fire started around 10 p.m. Monday night. That’s when fire crews arrived to a house that was fully engulfed in flames. Gusty winds in the area made fighting the fire difficult, so other area fire departments were dispatched to help put out the flames.
Despite the windy conditions, fire crews were able to put out the fire an hour and a half after it started.
St. Libory Fire & EMS, Doniphan Fire and QRT, City of Grand Island Fire Department, and the Chapman Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department all responded to help put out the fire.
A cause of the fire or any injuries are unknown at this time.
