NDP Chair Kleeb demanding transparency from Gov. Pillen, Geist

LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska Democratic Party is putting some pressure on governor Jim Pillen as it seeks transparency regarding the immediate replacement of former state senator Suzanne Geist.

To get those answers, the NDP submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the governor’s office. They’re calling his quick installment of Carolyn Bosn in Geist’s seat another example of the ultra-rich in the state attempting to consolidate their power.

NDP Chair Jane Kleeb says it’s important to hold the governor and former senator Geist accountable for their actions.

”Senator Geist said that when she resigned the legislature that she’s doing it because she’s all in for the mayor’s race, but the mayor’s race has been going on for several months,” Kleeb said. “We really believe there’s something else going on, and what it looks like to us is the consolidation of power that the Republicans have been doing over the last couple of years.”
