Northwest students honored with McGahan Honor award

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Northwest Education Foundation awarded two deserving seniors with the McGahan Honor Award on Wednesday.
Dr. James and Martha McGahan, longtime teachers at the school, were on hand to personally present Jayden Quandt and Schyler Packer with a check for $1,000 each.
The McGahan Honor Award is given annually to two senior students who exemplify a range of positive qualities, including hard work, enthusiasm, cooperation, respect for others, good work ethic, and overall academic excellence.
The winners are chosen by a committee of staff members who carefully consider the candidates’ achievements and contributions to the school community.
During Wednesday’s ceremony, 13 seniors were recognized. They were Owen Harb, Wyatt Gildersleeve, Adam Aparicio, Kian Botts, Nolan Moorman, Jackson Bough, Jayden Quandt, Elizabeth Morrow, Addison Chapman, Madison Starman, Chloe Mader, Makenna Gildersleeve, Ashley Bailey, and Schyler Packer.
This is the first year this award was presented.
