OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The Lexington boys soccer team is the only team from central Nebraska competing in this year’s Nebraska State Soccer Tournament, and they gave the entire region of the state a reason to cheer Wednesday night.

After finishing as a state runner-up in 2022, the Minutemen are looking to get back to the Class B championship game, and they looked the part of a contender in the first half against Scotus Central Catholic.

Antonio Moro, Fernando Casillas and Alexander Perez-Tunay all netted first half goals for Lex to stake the Minutemen to a 3-0 lead late in the first half. However, a late first have goal from the Shamrocks paired with an early second half goal made things interesting.

In the end, Lexington advanced on the strength of a 3-2 win.
