HEBRON, Neb. (KSNB) - Thayer Central hosted the District C-7 Track & Field Meet Thursday, with 10 total teams participating in competition to qualify for next week’s state tournament.

The St. Cecilia girls edged Milford by one total team point to win the district title outright. The Bluehawk boys were named co-champions with Tri County.

Featured events in our footage include finals in the girls 100-meter dash, girls 100-meter hurdles, girls 800-meter run, boys 110-meter hurdles, boys 100-meter dash and girls 300-meter hurdles -- where Hawkette Tatum Krikac qualified for state in a 48.97 second district win.

“I had a good feeling I was going to win, but anything can happen in the hurdles,” Krikac said. “I stumbled on one pretty early and I was like, I had to keep going. I heard the whole crowd cheering and everything. Going over the last hurdle I was in the lead. It was pretty tough. I was pretty gassed at the end, not going to lie.”
