Wayne stuns Kernels with six unanswered runs in 8-7 win

OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The co-op of Central City/Fullerton/Centura made history just a few days ago with their first-ever winner’s bracket win at the state baseball tournament. That win came over #6-seed Wayne, and after a tough loss Monday to #7-seed Omaha Roncalli, the Kernels found themselves in a heated rematch with the Blue Devils.
The Kernels looked to have Wayne’s number again Tuesday night. They shot out to a quick 3-0 lead and eventually extended it to 7-2 late in the game. However, the Blue Devils plated six unanswered runs in a shocking turn of events to earn the 8-7 win to send the Kernels home.
