UNK football players present during shooting incidents

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - UNK football players were present last week during three separate shooting incidents and one stabbing.
UNK spokesman Todd Gottula confirmed that members of the team were present at a Sunday morning May 14 shooting in the 1000 block of west 23rd street, at a late Sunday night May 14 shooting in the 700 block of west 25th street and at an early morning Wednesday, May 17 shooting at 611 west 25th street.
A man reportedly suffered stab wounds to the leg during the incident on west 23rd street. There were no other injuries suffered during any of the three incidents.
Friday afternoon, Kearney police reported that a 17-year-old male from Kearney was arrested for aiding and abetting a felony (discharging a firearm near a building). Another 17-year-old Kearney male was arrested for third degree assault and a 26-year-old Kearney man was arrested for third degree assault. Police did not identify the suspects and as of late Monday, there had been no formal charges filed in connection with the shooting incidents.
Also as of late Monday, there was no record of UNK football players being arrested or charged in relation to the shootings.
Police expected to make more arrests related to the shootings.
