Rain and thunderstorms make their way back to the area today
May 25, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Most of the area remains dry this morning, but as the day goes on, showers and thunderstorms will push northeastward into our area. Other showers and thunderstorms will develop as well. This is probably the best chance of rain that most of us will see in the days ahead. The good news is that the threat for severe storms will remain low. Some localized heavier rain will be possible for some. Some of the rain and thunderstorms will diminish overnight, but some will stick around through the night into tomorrow morning. I will be mild, but a little cooler today with highs ranging from the mid/upper 60s west to the lower 80s east. South southeast winds will be breezier today at 12 to 22 mph with some gusts up to 30 mph. Overnight lows will be back down into the mid to upper 50s and lower 60s. Some showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue tomorrow, but the chance east of the Tri-Cities will be much lower. By tomorrow evening, most of the rain will end and the focus for any more showers and thunderstorms will mostly be in Western Nebraska where there is a low end severe weather threat. High temperatures tomorrow will again range from the upper 60s west to the low/mid 80s east. Winds will again be out of the south southeast at 12 to 22 mph with gusts at times over 30 mph.
On Saturday, most of the area will remain dry. The main chance of any thunderstorms will mainly be out west with only a small chance in Central Nebraska. This will mostly be later in the day and into the evening. High temperatures will again be cooler in the west and warmer in the east from the lower 70s to the mid 80s. Winds will likely be strongest on Saturday with gusts up to 35 mph. The chance for showers and thunderstorms may increase a bit Sunday farther to the east. Again, the severe weather threat remains low. Highs on Sunday will remain from the mid 70s west to the mid 80s east.
Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue next week. Winds will also not be as strong starting on Memorial Day. It will also warm up a bit more. It’s currently looking like high temperatures most days next week will range from the upper 70s west to the lower 90s in the east.
