HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A Hastings nonprofit announced their new Executive Director on Friday.

The Prairie Loft has announced that Megan Arrington-Williams will be their new Executive Director. Officials described the interview process as “encouraging and heartbreaking” because of the quality of applicants.

Arrington-Williams will start June 15, which is one week before Flatwater Music Festival. Officials said she got the job because of her vision for the future.

“Megan really stood out from the group because she, she really has vision for what Prairie Loft, a love for what Prairie Loft does and then a vision for how to sustain the buildings, sustain the grounds,” said Sarah Hoops, Co-chairman of Prairie Loft.

Hoops also expects Arrington-Williams to be a key driver in future expansion of the Prairie Loft.

Arrington-Williams has been a part of the Flatwater Music Festival planning group for six years. She describes her new role as her dream job.

“The impact that Prairie Loft has on the community and to be outside and in nature and then to provide that experience for other people and have them experience the grounds here and experience the music during Flatwater and the festivals that are held,” Arrington-Williams said. “It’s just a fantastic place.”

Arrington-Williams said she will rely on her previous roles to help her excel as Executive Director.

“Certainly the event planning that is involved with the Downtown Center Association and Business Improvement District will play a big role here,” Arrington-Williams said. “I also worked at Stuhr Museum Foundation and so we provided a lot of scholarship opportunities and fundraised for that.”

Arrington-Williams said she sees herself being able to grow within her new role, and be involved in the community in a new and exciting way.
