GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The legal fight between AMC theaters and the new developer of the Conestoga Mall might not be over.

Last month a Hall County Court judge ruled that the only multi-plex theater in Grand Island would have to leave the Conestoga Mall.

Court records show that AMC plans to appeal that ruling in Hall County District Court.

The ruling came in a lawsuit filed by Woodsonia Highway 281 against AMC theaters of Kansas City. AMC had contested an eviction notice. In his April decision, the judge ruled that AMC was evicted legally. A few days later the Hall County Sheriff formally served the eviction notice.

AMC’s attorneys filed a formal notice to the court that they planned to appeal, but as of Wednesday they had not filed any paperwork outlining the basis of the appeal.

With the crash of falling bricks, the construction of the Conestoga Marketplace began Friday morning.
