Hastings alum, Omaha baseball’s Boeve enters transfer portal
OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - Omaha third baseman Mike Boeve has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from Kendall Rogers of D1baseball.com.
Boeve, a Hastings High alum, is MLB Draft-eligible this year and is projected to be an early-round pick as a top-40 player available right now. Rogers said entering the transfer portal is a “leverage move” for Boeve to potentially angle for a higher draft selection.
The Maverick just completed his junior season, earning All-Summit League First-Team honors for the second consecutive season. He was the Summit League Player of the Year in 2022.
“I try not to think about how things are going to be quite honest,” Boeve said. “This was one of my only opportunities coming out of high school I could tell this coaching staff really wanted me here and really believed in me. I think it’s kind of paid off for both sides.”
Omaha baseball coach Evan Porter said previously that he believes Boeve will be drafted.
“Whichever team or organization is lucky enough to be the one calling his name in July, I don’t think they realize what they are getting until Mike steps foot into their door and they realize the type of person he is,” he said.
