Sodbusters strike out 13 in two run loss to Moo
HASTINGS, Neb. (Press Release) - Hastings Sodbusters watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 2-0 loss to Fremont Moo on Thursday.
Fremont took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. The pitching was strong on both sides. The Moo pitchers struck out five, while Hastings sat down 13.
Fremont fired up the offense in the first inning. Tyman Long’s sac fly scored one run. One bright spot for the Sodbusters was a single by Grant Jones in the first inning.
Landon Mueller took the win for the Moo. The righthander surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out two. Brandon Lundquist and Kadyn Van Hill entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Fred Juden led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Hastings. The righthander lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five. Conner Cholez and Adam DeBoer entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and two innings, respectively.
Ty Mattson and Jones each collected one hit to lead the Sodbusters. Tyler Harrington led Fremont with two hits in five at bats.
The Moo were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Harrington had the most chances in the field with 11.
