Woman connected to 2022 Kearney murder sentenced
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island woman is heading to prison in connection with a Jan. 16 Kearney murder.
Chenoa Lemburg, 23, was convicted of attempted robbery after pleading no contest to the charge.
Buffalo County District Court judge John Marsh sentenced Lemburg to three to five years in prison. She will serve that at the same time as a theft-related charge out of Hall County from 2021.
Lemburg and Joseph Garcia were accused of robbing two others in a drug deal gone bad that ended in the death of 31-year-old Jared Shinpaugh, of Lexington. The incident happened at a home in the 800 block of West 23rd St.
The robbery charge was dropped for Garcia but he was sentenced to four to eight years for accessory to a felony charge.
Nobody has been charged in the death of Shinpaugh. Police are still searching for Romeo Chambers as the suspect in the January 16 shooting.
