Hastings downtown water project resumes

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The downtown water main project will continue until completion or until it’s restored to normal.

The city is working with the contractor, Van Kirk Bros. The project was put on hold for the “Downtown Do the Brew” event on April 29. The contractor then left town to work on another project.

There are a handful of water services that still need installed on First Street, between Lincoln and Hastings Avenues. The water main running on St. Joseph Avenue still needs to be completed as well.

The project will most likely be completed by mid July. Services that remain include water main, flushing, testing and tie-ins. City staff will be meeting with the contractor weekly to discuss progress and sequence of construction for finishing.
