Hastings Family YMCA project continues onward

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Family YMCA redevelopment project is now about 40 percent complete, however fundraising efforts are still going on to fully fund the project.

”We’re appreciative of everything,” Troy Stickels, CEO of Hastings Family YMCA, said. “What’s $100 to one person may be a lot more to another person. It doesn’t really matter to us. We love the support and we know the community’s been great to us so hopefully we can get this thing finished.”

The support of the community is what has driven this project forward, with almost 10 million dollars donated so far.

”I think it just shows people see the true value of the YMCA. It’s been around here in Hastings for 141 years and impacted so many people. It’s really humbling to see people donate and want to build this and keep it here for a really long time,” Stickels said.

The development will include a new pool, weight room, and childcare center. It’s expected to be fully completed sometime next year.
