Grand Island church youth group making water filters to help people overseas
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Vacation Bible School is a time for children to learn more about their faith, but it’s also a time to help others in need.
At Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island, children in VBS are helping the underprivileged overseas by creating water filters.
The filters turn dirty, unusable water into clean water to be used for many different things.
“These filters that the kids are putting together are going to be shipped overseas, and they’re going to families that don’t have access to clean water,” said Shannon Seim, the Director of Children and Family Ministries at the church. “They can use any water they can get from the river, wherever they get it, and run it through the filter and it is completely drinkable and safe for them to use.”
Partnering with the company “Wine to Water”, the group was able to create 95 filters to send over.
