Chances for rain and thunderstorms push back into the forecast for the rest of the week
June 8, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today will be another very warm day across the area as temperatures rise to the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s. Much of the area has plenty of sunshine this morning, but there are more cloud over Eastern Nebraska, to the east of a frontal boundary slowly pushing west into Central Nebraska. The frontal boundary don’t bring a big difference to temperatures across the area, but there are higher dew points (more humidity) over eastern areas. This afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of Central and Eastern Nebraska as well as North Central Kansas. During the evening, many will diminish, but a few may hold together overnight. We’ll see lows in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s.
With the front a little farther west, more of our area will see a better chance for showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon and into the evening hours. Otherwise, it’ll be another very warm day with highs into the mid to upper 80s. A few showers and thunderstorms will hold together overnight into early Saturday morning. Lows will again be in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s.
Saturday will bring our area the best chance of more widespread showers and thunderstorms as a cold front dives southward. So the chance will increase as the day goes on into the afternoon and evening. It’ll be cooler for most, but the coolest temperatures will be in the north where the front comes through first. Highs will range from the low/mid 70s north to the low/mid 80s south. The chance of rain will continue overnight with some even lingering into early Sunday morning. Sunday will be a fairly pleasant day with some breezier winds of 10 to 20 mph. Most will see highs in the 70s on Sunday. Monday will be slightly warmer and still mostly dry with highs in the 70s and lower 80s. It will begin to warm up again as the week goes on next week. There will be more chances for showers and thunderstorms down the road.
